Review
Another passion of mine other than thrillers are action films, you know the ones where the world is about to end and the action hero has just enough time to save everyone (along the lines of Die Hard) or a really good war film, Durian Pact seems to be a book that has those aspects mushed together in one big action soup.
The story starts off relatively calm but you can already feel the uncertain undertone as you read, you just have this uneasy feeling of what's around the corner.
Although this is a novel it reads almost like a reality as the events that unfold could easily happen in real life as China looks at invading Taiwan and the UK political party looks like it's about to fall apart at the seems (sound familiar) A fascinating insight is given within the hallowed halls of parliament as decisions are made that could well send ripples throughout the entire planet.
Junior MP Richard Reynolds uncovers a dark conspiracy that could well change the course of the entire planet, alot of pressure mounts up on young shoulders he literally cannot fail it's just not an option.
The intensity of this book is there from the outset, you can tell that Christopher Howarth has experience within the world of politics as the whole book felt authentic and at times scarily realistic. As action thrillers go this book certainly ticks the boxes for me it gives you all the intense action but not going over the top.
Summary
Time now then to put my thoughts into a summary, overall I enjoyed the book it has a furious intensity but builds up natural so you grasp the full story and it is easily followed. The authentic feel of the book allows the reader to invest deeper into the story and get beyond the pages. If like me you're an action buff or even like a good action thriller then this is definitely the book for you.
Verdict-Out of 5 ⭐
⭐⭐⭐⭐
GOOD
I give Durian Pact a good rating of 4 ⭐, a well written authentic action thriller. The author knows what he's writing about and that shows on the pages. A rollercoaster of a read that builds naturally and pulls you along for the ride - strap yourself in.
