Ipinataw ng Supreme Court ang pinakamabigat na parusa laban kay Dating Presidential Commission on Good Government Chairman Camilo L. Sabio matapos mapatunayan na nagkasala sa kasong grave misconduct.
Idinismis ng SC ang petisyon ni Sabio na kumukuwestiyon sa ruling ng Court of Appeals (CA) na nagpapatunay na guilty sa kasong grave misconduct and conduct prejudicial to the best interest of the service ang dating PCGG chief.
Batay sa per curiam decision ng Supreme Court en banc, si Sabio ay habambuhay na diniskuwalipika sa paghawak ng posísyon sa pamahalaan dahil napatunayan ang kanyang pananagutan o 'administratively liable for unethical intervention' sa isang kaso na nakabimbin sa Court of Appeals (CA).
Bukod sa disqualification, kinansela rin ng Korte Suprema ang civil service eligibilitY ni Sabio, forfeited rin ang kanyang retirement benefits at hindi na siya maaaring kumuha ng civil service examinations.
"As for Chairperson Sabio's penalty, considering that he is no longer employed in the government and can no longer be dismissed, the Court ordered that the penalties accessory to dismissal from service imposable upon him be recorded in his 201 File in the Civil Service Commission," ayon sa per curiam decision.
Sa rekord ng Korte Suprema, nag-ugat ang parusa kay Sabio dahil sa pakikialam sa kaso ng Meralco vs. GSIS na nakabimbin noon sa Appellate Court, na nasa diskresyon ng kanyang kapatid na si Dating CA Justice Jose L. Sabio, Jr.
