Mayroon umanong banta sa buhay ni Leyte 4th District Rep. Richard Gomez dahil sa pag-aksyon niya sa mga iligal na aktibidad sa distrito.
Sa isang pahayag na inulat ng Manila Bulletin, target umano ng "assassination plot" si Gomez, maging ang nasa apat na mayor sa Leyte at hindi pa mabilang na lider ng barangay sa third at fourth district ng lalawigan.
Mayroon umanong naiuulat na nagsasagawa ang "gun-for-hire groups" ng liquidation operations sa nasabing dalawang distrito ng Leyte.
Malaking halaga rin umano ang inilagay sa ulo ni Gomez at iba pang mga "target."
Kaugnay nito, sinabi ni Gomez na magpapatuloy pa rin siya sa paglaban sa mga iligal na aktibidad sa kaniyang distrito at ipinapasa-Diyos na raw niya ang lahat.
"Galit sila dahil hindi ako pumapayag na gawin nila ang kanilang mga masasamang balak. Ang Diyos na ang bahala sa akin," ani Gomez.
"When I decided to join public service and serve my constituents in the fourth district of Leyte, I was aware that doing so came with risks. I am prepared to face these threats and fight for my right to serve my constituents, and my people's right to a good and fair governance."
"I repeat: I will not be stopped from serving and performing my mandate. I will continue to oppose the illegal activities of local executives in the different municipalities of my district even if my personal interests, including my life, are put on the line," saad pa niya.
